Becoming a Care Provider

Do You Love Dogs? Are you already dog sitting for your friends and family? We are looking for families with or without resident dogs at the moment.

Maybe you would enjoy looking after a dog when the owners have to go away for a short time? If so, please contact us.

If after a few initial questions we think this may be a good opportunity for you, we will arrange a time to come out and meet with you. At this time, you can tell us what kind of dog you would like to look after (size, breed, energy level, etc.) and we will discuss your experience caring for dogs. We want everyone to have a good (and safe!) time and so we make sure that we only match dogs with suitable care providers.

We do require that your home be completely non-smoking, and that someone is home at least half the day. This is ideal for anyone who works from home, is retired, only works part time, has a spouses that works opposite shifts and families with grown kids at home. If everyone in the home is at work/school all day that isn’t ideal – our clients are looking for a care provider who will be spending most of the day with their dog. Our goal is to have clients find a regular care provider who will be available ongoing, so we are looking for care providers who are available almost all the time, not just on weekends/holidays.

Homes with and without resident dogs are welcome! We specifically have a need for homes without resident dogs.

We do require that you are not also signed up to dog sit through other agencies/websites. We work as a team and have a different business model which is very client-focused.

The Time Commitment
You can look after dogs as often as you want – you decide what is convenient for you at any particular time. However, we do need care providers who are available most long weekend and school breaks, as of course those are our busiest times!

Before any commitment is made by anyone, we arrange for you to meet with the dog and the dog owner. If you have any concerns after the meeting – just tell us and we will find another care provider. Only when everyone feels comfortable is a booking confirmed.

What You Need to Provide
The dog owner provides all of the dog’s food, treats, leash, toys, etc. All you have to do is provide a safe, loving home and give the dog lots of love and attention. You may be required to give the dog medication. You are hired as a subcontractor, paid weekly and will received a T4A at the end of the year for income tax purposes. Any expenses you incur (buying bowls, leashes, baby gates, etc.) can be deducted from you income at tax time.
